Scope
Welcome to EvenTab's Privacy Statement. Your right to privacy and online security is important. This Privacy Statement describes EvenTab's collection, protection, disclosure, and use of the personal information provided to or collected through our service. This Privacy Statement applies to all of EvenTab's platforms, including the EvenTab mobile application, the EvenTab website, and any online services that link to or reference this Privacy Statement. If you do not agree with any of the practices described in this Privacy Statement, please do not use our website or mobile app.
EvenTab helps people track shared expenses, settle balances, manage group money, and stay on top of personal spending in one simple place. The app combines two main financial workflows: shared group expenses and personal finance tracking. For shared features, you choose who you share your expenses with. When you share an expense, the details of those transactions are visible to those you share them with, whether an individual friend or a group. Anyone shared on an expense has the ability to edit, delete, and undelete the expenses that have been shared with them. As a personal finance management (PFM) tool, the personal section helps users track their own money outside of groups. You can record personal expenses, view a monthly spending overview, and track personal goals. Personal expenses and goals you add in EvenTab are strictly for your own tracking and are not made public.
In order to use EvenTab, you will need to create an account, which requires providing some registration information such as name and email address. We use this information to manage your account including contacting you when necessary. The information can also be used so that your friends can find you and so you can access your account from your mobile device. Please note that the EvenTab website is strictly informational, and account login and management are only available through the mobile app.
In addition to sharing your personal information to set up your account, we collect some other information about you, such as the type of device you use and your IP address. We use this information to help secure our service. We may also collect information about the type of expenses you add or the groups you create. We use this information to help improve and secure our service and to market our services to you. We don't share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We will never share your information with other parties for use other than as described in this statement without your consent.
You can view your Privacy and Notification Settings from your Profile page on the app or website. If you have any trouble accessing that information, please contact us at support@eventab.app.
EvenTab and its service providers and partners maintain operations in the United Arab Emirates and other countries and may process your personal information outside the country where you are located. Some of those jurisdictions may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. By choosing our service and providing information to us, you agree and consent to the transfer, storage and processing of your personal information in countries other than your home country. Regardless of location, we apply technical, organizational, and contractual safeguards designed to protect your personal data and ensure it is processed in line with this Privacy Statement.
EvenTab is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at support@eventab.app and we will promptly delete that information.
1. Data We Collect and How We Use It
When you use the EvenTab website or mobile app, we may collect the following information about you:
Information you provide to us:
Registration information: When you sign up for an account with EvenTab, you will be asked for your name, email address, and a password. We require you to provide an email address so that we can contact you about your account and so that you can access your data from any device. Friends will be able to add you as a contact in the application using your email address or username. You can make changes to this information at any time from your Profile page or by emailing us at support@eventab.app.
User-generated content: When using EvenTab, you may provide information related to shared expenses, groups, settlements, personal finance tracking, savings goals, receipts, avatars, and related notes. This may include group names, member names selected by users, expense descriptions, amounts, currencies, categories, dates, split information, settlement records, comments, personal expense entries, personal budget settings, goal names, goal targets, contribution records, uploaded receipt images, group images, and profile photos. For shared expenses and groups, this information is visible to the friends or group members you choose to share it with. Personal expenses, personal goals, and personal budget information are used for your own tracking and are not shared with other users unless you choose to include related information in a shared feature.
The way you use our service: We collect information about how you use and interact with EvenTab across our mobile app. That information may include the types of expenses you add, the features you use, the actions you take, and the time, frequency and duration of your activities.
Information shared by others: Other EvenTab users may share information with you using your contact information and that information will be stored in the service. For instance, if a contact of yours shares an expense with you or adds you to a group using your email address, EvenTab may notify you and store that information under your account according to your preferences.
Device and technical information: When you use EvenTab, we may receive technical information such as your IP address, device type, operating system, browser type, app version, request timestamps, and basic server logs. We use this information to provide and secure the service, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, maintain app stability, and improve performance. EvenTab does not currently use a third-party crash reporting SDK that automatically collects detailed crash logs, device state, or diagnostic reports from your device.
Notification information: If you enable push notifications, we may store device push tokens and notification preferences so we can send account, friend, group, expense, settlement, recurring expense, and reminder notifications. You can manage notification preferences in the app and through your device settings.
Billing and subscription information: EvenTab may offer paid Pro features ("EvenTab Pro") in some markets. If you choose to subscribe, your purchase is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, not directly by EvenTab. We do not collect or store your credit card number, debit card number, bank account information, or government identification documents. We may receive limited subscription information from our subscription service provider, RevenueCat, and the applicable app store, such as your subscription status, product identifier, purchase date, renewal or expiration date, cancellation status, and an app-specific customer identifier. We use this information to activate, manage, and verify access to Pro features, provide support, prevent fraud, and maintain accurate subscription records.
Single Sign-On (Google and Apple): As part of using EvenTab, you may be presented with the option to create an account or log in using third-party authentication services, such as Google or Apple.
Google Accounts: If you choose to create an account or sign in using Google, Google may share basic account information with EvenTab, such as your name, email address, and profile picture, depending on your Google account settings and the information available from your Google account. We use this information to create, authenticate, secure, and manage your EvenTab account. EvenTab does not request access to your Google Contacts.
Sign in with Apple: If you choose to use "Sign in with Apple," Apple will only provide us with your name and an email address to set up your account. You have the option through Apple's privacy features to hide your real email address and instead provide EvenTab with a private, randomly generated email address that forwards to your personal inbox. We use this provided information solely to securely create, authenticate, and manage your EvenTab account.
Other information: We may request other information from you such as feedback, questions, comments or suggestions. We will use that information to improve the service or as otherwise specifically described at the time of collection.
2. More Information About How We Use Data
As described above, EvenTab is designed to help people share expenses, track their personal finances, and manage goals. We process your information to provide, support, and secure our app and website (both automatically and manually). For example, we may use your information in some of the following ways:
- To record informal records of shared expenses, IOUs, payments, as well as your private personal expenses and goals.
- To fulfill your requests for certain products and services.
- To help your EvenTab contacts manage their EvenTab relationship with you. For example, we may display your EvenTab email address to your EvenTab friends and group members so they may identify that they are sharing bills with the correct person.
- Respond to your inquiries about our services. For example, if you or an EvenTab friend of yours contacts us for support, or as part of a random account audit, we may go into your account in "administrator mode" to help provide support to you or a friend.
- To detect and protect against errors, fraud, or other criminal activity.
- We may use your information for internal security purposes. For example, if you have activated a feature that limits access to a service from a specific device, our systems will access the device ID from each device you attempt to access the Service with to determine if the device is the specific authorized device. Additionally, we may use identifying information to monitor suspicious activity. For example, if we detect that a single account on our app is being accessed from multiple devices simultaneously, we may contact the user to ensure that such access has been authorized.
- To verify your identity in the event you contact us for assistance.
- To analyze service usage, perform market research, project planning, product development, troubleshooting problems, analysis of user behavior, internal marketing and promotions, or other efforts to improve our service quality across our platforms.
- To alert you to software compatibility issues and to improve our web and mobile design and functionality.
- To communicate with you. For example, we will email you when we release new features, have important news, and when you have a notification generated by activity. Some emails, such as updates to our Privacy Statement, information about your account, password resets, or other security issues are not optional.
- To enforce our Terms of Service.
3. More Information About How We Share Your Information
Vendors and Other Partners
We may use third-party service providers to help provide support and improve our services across our website and app. For example, our vendors provide maintenance services, database management, cloud hosting, web and mobile analytics, and application performance monitoring or crash-diagnostic services. We require our vendors to protect your information in a manner that is in keeping with the terms of this Privacy Statement, and their terms of service prohibit them from using your data for any other purpose. We may also share limited account, subscription, usage, service-related and transaction information with platform operators and payment processors to facilitate purchases, manage subscriptions, facilitate refunds, and assist in resolving subscription issues and preventing fraud. Those third-party providers are subject to contractual and regulatory obligations governing the protection, use and security of personal data and they are required to process such information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
For Legal Matters
We will disclose personal information when required by applicable law and will do our best to ensure that such disclosures are limited and proportionate. For example, we may disclose information:
- to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or bona-fide legal processes;
- in order to investigate, prevent, defend against, or take other action regarding violations of our Terms of Service, illegal activities, suspected fraud, or situations involving potential threats to the legal rights or physical safety of any person or the security of our network, sites, app, or service;
- to respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third parties;
- in an emergency, to protect the health and safety of our users;
- as otherwise required by any applicable law.
Business Transfer
If our company or our assets are acquired by another company, the transfer may include our customer information. In that case, the acquiring party will assume the rights and obligations regarding such information as described in this Privacy Statement.
Non-identifiable Information
We may disclose non-personal information to third parties as we deem appropriate (e.g. for their research or product development) and to help us determine how we can improve our service. We may also disclose non-personal information to our service providers and other third parties about how our users collectively use the website and app.
4. Security
We take the security of your information seriously. We use technical and administrative security measures such as encryption techniques and authentication procedures to maintain the security of your app sessions and website visits. Please understand, however, that while we try our best to safeguard your personal information once we receive it, no transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
You can help protect the privacy of your own information by using encryption and other techniques to prevent unauthorized interception of your personal information. You are responsible for the security of your information when using unencrypted, public or otherwise unsecured networks.
We will contact you as required by applicable law in the event of a breach of the security, confidentiality, or integrity of our systems.
5. Cookies and Mobile Tracking
Like many online services, the EvenTab website and mobile app use tracking technologies such as cookies, web beacons, mobile Software Development Kits (SDKs), and similar technologies to store your session information and to track the use of EvenTab. We may also use these technologies to monitor traffic, improve EvenTab's performance across devices, and make it easier to use and more relevant.
Your browser or mobile device may include "Do Not Track" functionality. EvenTab's information collection and disclosure practices, and the choices that we provide to customers, will continue to operate as described in this Privacy Statement, whether or not a Do Not Track signal is received. To learn more about how Do Not Track works, please visit allaboutdnt.com.
You also have choices to limit some tracking mechanisms that collect information when you use our services. Many web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser's setting to decline cookies if you prefer. Additionally, your mobile device settings may allow you to restrict ad tracking or the sharing of your advertising ID. If you choose to decline these tracking technologies, certain features of our website or app may not function properly or remain accessible to you.
6. Your Choices, Account Deletion, and Data Retention
Choice and Access to Your Personal Information
You may access, review, and update the personal information you have submitted to us at any time. You can make changes to your personal information from your Profile page in the mobile app. If you need help updating or correcting your information, please contact us at support@eventab.app.
Users can export data concerning their shared groups and friendships directly through the EvenTab mobile application. If you need help accessing your data or require further assistance, please contact us at support@eventab.app.
Your Choices Regarding the Data We Collect and Process
In many instances, you have choices about the information you provide and limiting how we use your information. These choices, and any related consequences, are described below:
Personal information: You may choose not to provide your personal information, such as your name, address or payment information, but then you might not be able to take advantage of many of our service features.
Emails, newsletters, and other communications: We may send periodic service related information via email or mobile push notifications. You may choose whether or not you want to receive those optional communications by indicating your preference in your account profile. Please note that certain services-related messages (such as password resets) that we send are necessary for the proper functioning and use of the services and you may not have the ability to opt-out of those messages.
Third-Party Authentication (Google and Apple): If you authorize an account connection from a third-party provider like Google or Apple, you can manage your connection and data-sharing preferences directly from your Google account or Apple ID settings. Please refer to Google's and Apple's respective privacy notices for more information on the choices you may have.
Account Deletion
You may choose to delete your EvenTab account at any time from the Profile page of the mobile application, or by following the account deletion instructions provided on our account deletion page.
When you delete your account, EvenTab disables access to the account and removes or anonymizes account-level personal information, including your email address, profile photo/avatar, pending invitations, friend requests, and active push notification tokens. Once the deletion process is completed, you will no longer be able to sign in or access the account.
Because EvenTab is used to maintain shared expense records between multiple people, some historical shared records may remain visible to the friends or group members who were part of those records. This may include shared expense descriptions, amounts, currencies, dates, split information, settlement records, comments, and the display name associated with historical activity, where needed to preserve an accurate ledger for the remaining participants. Your email address and profile photo will no longer be shown for the deleted account.
Personal expenses, personal goals, personal budget settings, and other private personal finance records that are not part of a shared group or shared expense are deleted or made inaccessible as part of account deletion, except where retention is required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or backup purposes.
Some limited records may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary to comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms of Service, maintain security, or preserve backup and audit integrity.
Legal Bases for Processing
We process personal data only when we have a valid legal basis under applicable data protection laws. For users in the United Arab Emirates and the broader Middle East, this means we comply with the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 regarding the Protection of Personal Data and similar regional regulations. For users in the European Economic Area, we rely on the legal bases set out in the GDPR. In all cases, we process personal data only when a lawful basis applies, which may include:
- Consent: for example, when you authorize us to access account information. You may withdraw your consent at any time.
- Contractual necessity: when processing is required to provide the services you request, such as creating your account and recording shared expenses.
- Legal obligations: when processing is necessary to comply with legal or regulatory requirements, including fraud prevention.
- Legitimate interests: when processing is needed to maintain the security and integrity of our services, to prevent abuse, or to improve our offerings, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
No matter where you're located, we apply appropriate safeguards and honor the rights available to you under the data protection laws that apply in your jurisdiction.
7. Changes to This Privacy Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement periodically. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app, website, or via email. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. The date last revised appears at the top of this Privacy Statement.
